Mastering the Art of Creating Sharp Stripes in Your Designs

Creating sharp stripes in your designs can add a professional touch to any space. Follow these simple steps to master the art of stripe painting.

Step 1: Decide what the pattern of stripes is going to be

Step 2: Gather together:

• spirit level

• pencil

• measuring tape

• low-tak masking tape

Step 3: Decide on the height and width of the stripes and mark them up. If they correspond with the width of the masking tape all the better

Step 4: Use a spirit level to lightly put marks on the wall as a guide for the tape

Step 5: Apply the masking tape along the marks and press down firmly with a clean cloth

Step 6: Paint over the tape with the background colour (the colour that’s under the tape). This fills any possible gaps with the same colour. This prevents the new stripe color from bleeding into the gaps.

Step 7: Once dry apply thin coats of the stripe colour.

Step 8: Before the final coat fully dries peel the tape off slowly at a slight angle or at 90 degrees. If you leave it on too long or the paint is too thick you risk the paint peeling off with the tape.

Step 9: Cheer at your amazing sharp lines OR just touch them up with a thin brush if you need to.
